We support local runners. At Aardvark, we sponsor approximately 30 races each year. We offer discounts to local high school and college runners. Many other specialty running shops in the U.S. do the same. The Big Boxes and mail order catalogs do not. A size 10 is almost never a size 10! As crazy as it seems, most long time runners have learned that running shoe sizes vary from brand to brand, shoe to shoe, and at times within styles. The most frequently committed mistake in purchasing running shoes is to select a size that pinches the toes and forefoot, leading to blackened and bruised toenails or pain in the metatarsals. We know how to fit you properly and will encourage you to go for a test run to make sure we get it right, which means that you need to leave at least 1/3 of an inch of dead space (and some folks go for a half an inch) between the end of your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
